Orlando Sentinel Terry Hummel's Visual Arts Column

When in Orlando pick up a Friday Orlando Sentinel for the best information in The Entertainment Guide Calendar. Today I give a special thanks and a shout out for Terry Hummel. Thanks Terry, for writing about our exhibit in your column. I appreciate you. Terry is a multi-talented guy. He travels, has the ability to speak several languages, and creates unique and complex art work. He has painted portraits and collage pieces and has a series of mixed-media boxes with psycho-social and religious imagery. He has an MA from Rollins College, is on the boards of the Orlando Downtown Arts District and The Mennello Museum of American Art, and is founder and past president of the former Orlando Visual Artists' League which was a catalyst in creating the City Arts Factory. I have had the pleasure to see and be a part of his dynamic art collection.

Pastel and paper
Also on Tuesday, 5-7 p.m., is an artists' reception for Robin Maria Pedrero and Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson at the Fine Arts Gallery of Seminole Community College (100 Weldon Blvd., Sanford). Pedrero will be showing her color-saturated pastel paintings (the term "drawings" has fallen out of favor), and Nelson will present her "Paper Paintings." Her "paintings" are actually multi-layered collages, which really appear to be Impressionist paintings. It's an interesting technique. Call the gallery for more info, 407-708 - 2040

The above artwork "Wander where the wind blows" by Robin Maria Pedrero is also featured in the column.

Looks like you are having a busy and productive Florida summer. Guess we don't really have a "season" anymore.
