This is one of the pieces I shipped Friday titled "Waterside" a 9" x 12" pastel by me, Robin Maria Pedrero, to Juxtapose Gallery in New Jersey which is now representing me and my work! In my previous post you read about Julaine, who is not an artist yet goes the extra mile without expecting any gifted gratitude, but "Purple Woods" is on the way to her anyhow! This next relationship I discuss has expectations. Expectations based on trust, reliability, skill and success,
a "Tag Team." The Juxtapose Gallery representation is credited to the due diligence of my friend and fellow artist Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson who is already selling works there. We collaborate bringing our full package of skills to the table, although honestly we rarely see each other in person, both fully immersed in our responsibilities as mothers and wives, plus Elizabeth is a full time graphics designer. We have similar hair color, small dogs, are New England natives, and both wear Brit by Burberry. Yet we are very different artists whose works do not compete but more often compliment each other. We share marketing strategies, partner on exhibits, collaborate on projects, and work together toward gallery representation. Elizabeth shares in her post "Something to Celebrate" of her recent representation at Celebrations Gallery, where I served as a catalyst to get her work in front of them. One of the rare galleries where we aren't the only ones with long names! We have exciting news to share. We now have a featured exhibit at Celebrations Gallery in September 2009! We will each host a "Conversation with the Artist" there in Connecticut and also have an event at Juxtapose Gallery in New Jersey while we are back in New England. "Candor and Color... " is just a hint on our upcoming featured exhibit.
