Paradise Original by Robin Maria Pedrero

Hello! I hope your day is wonderful! I purchased a pile of 8" x 8" canvases to create more works in acrylic and india ink. I enjoy the layering and pulling life from amongst the colors. I feel the change of the season and brought the evidence to fruition in a few pieces I have in the works. I gladly welcome September!
The original above is $60 and for sale in my Etsy shop.

New Drawing Gold Partridge in Pear Tree

This is the pastel work on the easel presently. In preparation for holiday items I am inspired by the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas." Here is a less familiar partridge, my own version of a golden holiday partridge, surrounded by luscious pears.

The words from the song first appeared in a book titled "Mirth without Mischief" (1780 or 1783) in England. The tune apparently dates back much further and came from France. “The Twelve Days of Christmas” was a “memory and forfeits game” played by children at that time. Christians assign symbolic religious references to the gifts. The twelve days, incidentally, are the period of time between the birth of Jesus and the arrival of three wise men, January 6, Twelfth Night, Three Kings Day or as my mother called it "Little Christmas." For several years I created a new "Journey" piece of the the three wisemen.

Large Vibrant 8 x 10 prints

I am so excited at how incredible these prints have turned out! I am adding more of my art images in the new size almost everyday to Etsy, so there's more in my Etsy shop. They are $20 each. The 8 x 10 image is printed on 8.5" x 11" 74lb Ultra Premium Photo Paper with Vivera HP Inks.

Most are in my Etsy Shop which is easy to use and takes paypal. I also have a 1000 markets shop which is simple to make purchases and payments are via Amazon.
Speaking of Amazon, did you know AMAZON has a Universal WISH LIST? This link takes you to the page to get a button to place in your toolbar. I was inspired to find a source for this when someone wanted to put these prints on her birthday and holiday wish list. I added my first wish item to my personal wish list....who would have guessed it is art!

I am so excited about the Make A Difference Movement! Read what's happening.

"Robin, I gave out three of your little cards yesterday to some very special
friends and customers...I wrote a little note on the back thanking them for
their business and friendship, then handed them to them and told them why I was
giving them the card....one of the ladies who is already special to me, was in
tears and took her's home and showed her husband...Just thought I'd let you know

Mask: Hooowl for the Arts

Hoooowl for the Arts the Third Annual fundraiser BBQ, will be held at the Seminole Harley Davidson—Buell dealership, in Sanford, on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 6:30-10:00pm.
This is what I am working on in india ink. Nature, flora, fauna, insects and birds. I love black and white, but I am tempted to add just a bit of color. You know I am wild on color! So the hard part is controlling how much color. Initiating self control in creating art, telling yourself when enough is enough is a discipline one learns to heed through the previous experience of pushing past the fresh state of a work of art. There's a difference between fear and creative caution for desired effect. I like this so much I think I will create some 2D pieces in black and white. I really like using the india ink too.

Wet Sale

I had a wonderful week! A friend from years ago found via our daughters on facebook came to visit. There's always something to see at my house! My art and the art I've collected. We had a delightful flavorful lunch of middle eastern Persian food at Ali Babas. Although she no longer has the horses she has my artwork depicting one of them still in her home.

I designed an appreciation gift for another one of my collectors which included one of the pieces she had previously purchased and two other pastels from the series. She adored it! I am so pleased! I have made the mug available to the public for purchase on cafe press. http://www.cafepress.com/ENJOYREDSeries

I discovered my collector had spent quite a bit of time perusing my art online as she already had favorites in mind when she walked in. She was the first to see the new oils I've been working on. It was such a pleasure to spend time with her. There are common bonds in who we are that are made evident in her attraction to specific pieces of my art. I enjoy getting to know her. I was also impressed with how she pulled my pieces into groupings. It struck me how her selections of the pastels, the oils and the new acrylics all worked so lovely together. She narrowed it down to 5 pieces and went home with "Allegro" and the above oil walked out wet!

The Make a Difference Movement

The Make a Difference Movement has caught on! Even Seth Godin's blog talked about a project he is doing where he is seeking photos of people who make a difference in your life. My art cards are presently being used by people wanting to express thanks, more specifically recent purchases by Realtors and HR peeps. The cards can be kept or passed on. Go to 1000 markets to see a full selection http://www.1000markets.com/users/avisualjourney/products?tag=aceo
They can be purchased individually or in quantity, including wholesale for large orders.

Cloudy Beach Day

I've always had an affinity towards the pastel piece shown above. It is fabricated from my memories of the beach where the sky, water and land meet and the waves sing nourishment to my soul.
Instead of winding down in the HOT summer month of August I am putting it in gear. It being producing art, entering shows, reconnecting with galleries, marketing and preparing for the H word we see creeping out....that is if you get mail or go to stores...Holidays. I am an artist, and as a producer of things and small business owner I would like to have some special pieces to celebrate the season. Some originals and then make greeting cards and gift items from the images. Like these adorable PUFFINS http://www.cafepress.com/puffinchristmas
I have been inspired by yet another song and today made a charcoal sketch to begin with my muse.

You Make a Difference

I've been inspired to make a series of ACEO's titled You Make a Difference. I use images I have created along with the sentiment of thanks. It is my vision that these can be shared from one person to another as a token of sincere appreciation. Warm fuzzies that can be kept in a wallet, on a dresser, in frame, on the fridge, in a cubicle or desk drawer as heartfelt reminder. Here are just 4 of several selections. Most of them are listed in 1000 markets here and two are on Etsy . I will also wholesale these in larger quantities just send me a request.
Thanks for making a Difference!

"Dare to be Happy"

I titled this after a line in a song I listen to, which if you are a regular here at my blog "Pocketful of Colors" you might recall how my musical mantra is an integral part of my making of art. Carolyn Arends has an album called Seize the Day with a song titled "Happy". Lyrics here
The piece above was created on canson mi-tientes using soft pastel. The hand torn deckled edges are intentional and are a signature style for me. I like the exposed natural earthy pigments of the pastel on the paper edges which suggests a hint of antiquities like ancient scrolls. Once finished with framing and under glass the deckled edge is so stunning.

In my dare to be happy I send a request out in seeking exhibitions and sales opportunities for the work that I do. Thanks for your encouragement and any leads you can share in helping me reach my goals.
