Yes truly I have sometimes spent two months mulling over a title. It seems a little ridiculous to some perhaps, but that is my reality. Some pieces the title is bam! that is it final, done deal. Others... waver back and forth...I take input from family, students, fans and art collectors. The piece above "It ain't a fable baby" was coined after brainstorming what I was expressing in the piece with students and credit goes to Dana Schmidt, who I mentor. I still have a few titles to come up with for Continuum pieces. I try not to have reoccurring titles. I think a good title is necessary for my work, preferring not to list untitled with a number. When 2020 comes rolling in we'll talk about titles again. lol

Art on the Fence
I like to photograph my work outside in natural daylight. I carted all of my large pieces outside and hung them on the fence one by one to photograph them. Above is "Encantador". The cardinals were a little surprised that I kept interrupting their time at the feeders but the woodpecker didn't mind at all. He swooped down and enjoyed a meal. Next week I will be installing this piece at The Steinway Gallery, in Altamonte Springs Florida as one of several pieces in "Continuum" which opens May 13, 6-8pm.

Abstract Beginnings
If you have been following me here you might be more accustomed to seeing finished pieces more often. Working large takes much more time, more layers, bigger brushes, and lots of paint!
I did finish a piece yesterday, it was drying into the night. Photos of these large pieces will all take place on the same day, or through the course of two days if it takes that long. Above you can see yet another beginning. I had placed this aside, as in accordance with my creative process; I begin several, study them, work with 2 or three, focus on one, work with a few, focus on another, going back again and again, still working yet giving myself that space to be objective. It is a diptych and I am musing over the idea of adding another panel to make it a triptych.
I like this one in many places just as it is… but it will be evolving for more depth and layers and continuity for Continuum.

Countdown to May 13
Actually May 3rd..that is the date I install the exhibit at the Steinway Gallery. And I am still painting! I have some pieces both finished and in progress in this photo. Looking for continuity and overall appearance yet lacking in a large enough studio space for distance, I truly have pieces leaning on the walls throughout my house! I am evaluating them. This will be my first solo exhibiting large pieces on canvas. My previous solo exhibits have all been in pastel, works on paper, matted and framed with glass. As time closes in I sleep less and doubt and fear creep in followed by exhilaration and delight and the cycle repeats. While with a dear friend I was sharing about my daughter and I told her how proud I am of her, and how she feels the fear and moves forward accomplishing what she must do. And that is what I am doing too. I might even use a similar title… “Feel the fear and fly forward”.
I do hope if you can you will join me for the Opening reception May 13, 6-8 Steinway Piano Gallery

Color
The large piece on the wall is one of my new acrylics
"It ain't a fable baby" for my solo exhibit at
The Steinway Gallery (opening reception May 13).
Below that are two pieces
on their sides, "St. Kitts Row Boat" and "Crescent Moon by Day"
which I leaned there as I was delivering them to be packaged
and shipped to Celebrations Gallery.
In preparing the shipment items I walked in and out of this room
and could not help but notice the similar color palette in all three.

In Continuum, artist Robin Maria Pedrero presents works
of art that infuse color and design to illustrate the
timelessness of nature and love.
Using opaque and transparent painted layers and
selective ink drawn contours
she shows how thoughts triggered by senses can take us on a
visual journey connecting present perceptions,
past experiences and future musings.
A “Meet the Artist” wine/cheese/jazz reception will be

Painting in Progress on the Porch
Some days it’s just too nice to paint inside..and when working on larger canvases a larger space like my screened in porch is a little easier to maneuver several large pieces. One drawback out there is I have to be neat compared to in the studio where I can let paint fly without a care of splatters on the floor, so I moved them all back in to the studio because it was too inhibiting and the weather is getting a little warm.
These two pieces look a lot different now...they will be part of my exhibit at the Steinway Gallery.
This is a sneak peek ~ I share these on my facebook fan page often as requested.
I am a new contributor to Watch Me Create where I will be sharing more on creativity and inspiration.

Sunshine Award
"It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things." ~ Leonardo Da VinciSo the house is clean, laundry almost done, yard mowed, pool.. still pollen falling in it, flowers are sprouting and the birds were singing so much I took an early walk with Max whose hair on his four little feet look slightly green colored by pollen afterwards. On Sunday I ready myself for my week, a clean slate (house and studio) and I make my calendar and lists.
My art making list is lengthy and that is a very good thing for an artist. I am glad. A little anxious but confident I will finish each project; new works for my solo show at Steinway Gallery in Altamonte Springs, which will go up the 3rd of May since they are painting the walls on the 1st, the chair for Pinkberry and Mustard Seed Fundraiser, and a handful of commissions, and work to send to Celebrations gallery. I am always amused at the non painters who say ahh if I could just paint all day, well hey it's great! I love it! It is also my career and like a job there are many responsibilities in addition to the painting. I enjoy almost every little bit (not fond on hanging a show) I might need a little help this month. I had help with databasing my art for a day last year and it made a big difference. I might take on an apprentice of sorts. I had an inquiry yet we've not found a perfect fit for schedules.
I am off to enjoy the sunshine on this awarding day!

Exposing the crow
In my previous post is the original "The Secret Place" where I share how nothing is secret, depicted by the crow who thinks he's hiding, but is obviously exposed. Recently I have had requests to share more on my inspiration and my process. I painted a complete crow then used a resist technique to expose him as shown above.
