"Barby's Beach" This is the finished pastel piece that I shared in progress in a previous post of my studio. It is a commission created to have a similar sky as "Many the Miles". I want to go there..... just a sailboat and some birds in the distance...gentle waves... salt air...and those glorious sun rays.... Thank you Barby for wanting me to create this piece for you, it is sincerely my pleasure! Enjoy!

Removing Resist
A resist is used to describe when two materials or media repeal each other either chemically or physically. Wax, crayon,or a liquid like a rubber cement are some substances used to make a resist. The piece above is where I painted, it dried, then I painted on liquid Winsor Newton resist, after that dried I painted several layers of color and paint over the top, that dries, then I show when I removed the resist as you can see.

Paintings in progress on the table
Lately I have shared what's on the easel. Today it is what's on the table. The piece closest in the center is my piece for #Artswap on twitter.
The Artist's Life
I woke up before dawn today and painted for 3 hours. I am sitting watching Regis and Kelly drinking a Sobe Fuji Apple Pear, while on twitter, facebook, and email. I am preparing for my week checking and developing my calendar. I have to take 3 pastels to the framers today to finish them for my art collectors. I will buy art supplies and more canvas. I have to photograph my piece for #artswap and prepare it for shipping. I have a list of entries to shows to go through and hopefully haven't missed the deadlines. I have to build a new website and teach myself Dreamweaver. There's more...but you get the picture, I am glad to be an artist!

Partridge and Pear Blossoms
"Partridge and Pear Blossoms" This is the second piece
that will be installed with the "Birds and Grapes".
This pastel is similar to my "Partridge in a Pear Tree"
the first image the customer selected however
it was a little too dark blue for her home. Hence
the creation of this new pastel and a complimentary
piece to accompany it for the same wall.

Pastel Partridge and Pear Blossoms in Progress
I am using the paper as part of my value scale in areas of this piece.
I adore the little white pear blossoms in the upper corner,
so much that I will continue to add more. As I share more of this piece
in subsequent posts you will see the leaves and branches added in and taken out
as I adjust the composition. The paper is taped to a drawing board,
with the work upright on an easel. I wear gloves when working with pastels.

"Colors/ the objects, done w/ great confidence. On teal verticals, they work. Color appeals, allows in light, and affect on viewer is necessary curiosity. Lastly, Robin, love the line-...drawing. Black leaves give painting depth, contrast, balance. Well done"remember twitter is 140 characters or less..

This bag was a recent custom order which shipped to Fresno.
It is so exciting for me to see various images of mine on products.
I love how this turned out! (Thanks to Sew What!)
I also ordered a mini pouch to give my customer as a gift.
The small pouch is for a local venue who is selling these.
