Betrothed, White Butterflies in the Garden

The engagement of living things, flowers, plants, bees, butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, and snails comes to view here in my newest work of art. My painting is titled "Betrothed".

"Betrothed" 20" x 16" acrylic on gallery wrap canvas by Robin Maria Pedrero
There is much folklore about butterflies and dragonflies.
The Zuni people saw butterflies as indicators of weather to come.
White butterflies meant the summer weather was about to begin

This is a wonderful Irish Blessing:

“May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun, and find your
shoulder to light on to bring you luck, happiness and riches”

There are many myths and beliefs of symbolic metamorphosis regarding the butterfly.
Butterflies remind us of rebirth, love, hope, and freedom.
Some believe that the white butterfly symbolizes the soul of departed ones.

The Japanese consider a lovely female in a kimono to resemble a white butterfly.
In Japan the dragonfly is emblematic of martial success.

If you were to read this painting like a book what would the story be for you?

My favorite color is blue, any and all shades. Blue is water, and I am happiest and feel most complete when I am near a large body of water - guess that's why I live on an island! Blue also represents HOPE to me - for very personal reasons. Blue sky, blue water, blue birds - some of my favorite things and my favorite color of life.

I always say my favorite color is cobalt blue. But I can't live with out soft shades of green and blue. And bluish greens. Or Purple. When it comes to painting, I have been on an indigo kick for a few months.
I love the blues in this painting. They just pop. Such a lovely piece, just makes me smile :)

My favorite color is red violet. I saw a picture of myself wearing a gray shirt with a red violet scarf and it was one of those rare times when I thought I looked pretty.

Blue is also my favorite color. Deep navy, cobalt, but especially midnight blue. When I was young, I absolutely LOVED yellow orange - that bright lemon with a touch of orange color. My brother had a little MG car that color. :) I love your use of colors, Robin, and the way you put them together!

I like most colors but this summer I'm going with "YELLOW!"

Hope you have a HAPPY 50th Bday! Your work never gets boring…Am I supposed to mention a favorite color? Oh my, Just ONE! Actually I wass drawn into to the softer colors of this painting. NOT my normal. The softness helps the colors to not be overpowering…that is what I so struggle with when I am painting. Love how your painting are SO colorful yet soft & quite at the same time. Difficult achievement that YOU make look easy!!!

Red is my fav color, but I love the fact that white butterflies are supposed to symbolize departed soles. There were two white butterflies flittering around my patio a couple of days ago and I've never seen any out there before. My mama passed 3 months ago after living with us the past almost 3 yrs. I've been missing her a lot. Now when I see white butterflies, I will always think of mama. Thanks for sharing.
